Allan studied
sculpture in GMIT from 1994-97. He subsequently worked for Macnas and
one of his first commissions was the creation of over 300 slipcast
skulls for Druid's Leenane Trilogy.

Allan has
created many pieces around the country using natural and found
materials. In 2001 he was a coordinating artist for National
Sculpture Day in the People's Park, Galway. |
In 2002 he
was artist in residence with An Cosan Glas, a Donegal based arts group,
During the Errigal Arts Festival.
In 2003 Allan
had a residency with the Galway Arts Centre during Seachtain na
Gaeilge and exhibited there.
In 2004 he
had a residency in the Cill Rialaig Project, an artist's retreat in a
restored pre-famine village.
